Wine-Specific Conditions & Policies

Shipping Policies

Wine is a perishable commodity. Wine does not like extremes of temperature: hot humid summer and cold winter weather may adversely affect the condition of your wine during shipment. Copia Vineyards & Winery is not responsible for, and will not replace wine that is damaged by extreme weather conditions during shipment. When your wine order is picked up by the common carrier for delivery, responsibility for the wine becomes the responsibility of the purchaser.

Shipping Costs

UPS is Copia's carrier of choice, although we can also ship your packages via FedEx Ground upon prior request (or if it is selected at check out). Ground shipping is provided by UPS and FedEx Ground at current market rates. Expedited and cold shipping options may be available, based on your area and the time of year. Please inquire by emailing wineclub@copiavineyards.com.

Shipping Changes

It is vital to double check all information before confirming your order. Once a web or wine club order is placed and processed, changes made to the order can incur additional fees.

Web and phone orders are confirmed upon receipt.

Wine club release orders are confirmed after a specifically stated period of time (generally two weeks) when wines are selected/confirmed, billing and shipping information changes can be made. Members should utilize this time window and let Copia know asap if any changes need to be made to their account or if a shipment needs to be delayed due to travel.

Once an order has been processed, any rerouting, address changes or pick-up requests will incur carrier fees (rerouting, return shipment, restocking fees).

*Please note that orders are received by the warehouse, packed and placed on a larger pallet containing many shipments. It may not possible to locate a single shipment without delaying all shipments moving out for the day.

Returns

Copia Vineyards makes every effort to subsidize shipping costs and carrier surcharges. It is a pricey proposition to have wine, a perishable product, returned back to the warehouse. Any shipments that are returned undelivered will incur return, restocking and reshipping costs charged by the carrier, often more than the original shipping charge that is subsidized by Copia.

Per the law, we are prohibited from accepting any returns of alcohol, except for products that are found to be flawed or corked (not due to adverse weather/storage, which we are not responsible for). Arrangements can be made to return a flawed product to verify the condition and a refund can be processed for the wine cost less shipping and handling. Please note than Copia has used Diam corks from 2022 onward. These closures effectively prevent TCA (2, 4, 6-trichloroanisole)—the main compound responsible for "cork taint."

Legal Requirements

You must be 21 years of age or older, to order or receive alcoholic beverages from Copia Vineyards & Winery. Receipt of shipments containing alcoholic beverages requires the signature of a sober adult (a person 21 years of age or older who is not intoxicated). Wines purchased from Copia Vineyards & Winery are not for resale, and are for personal consumption only. An adult signature is always required by law. Copia is not responsible for any arrangements made with your local delivery driver and packages left at your address without a signature.

States Authorized for Direct Shipment

Due to the ever-changing nature of wine shipping laws, we may be able to ship wines, directly or indirectly, to all states except Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah and Vermont. If Copia Vineyards & Winery is unable to ship directly to your state, we may be able to arrange for the sale and shipment of our products through a third party. Please note, when dealing through a third party, wine prices, discounts, and shipping costs may differ from those quoted by Copia Vineyards & Winery. Reach out to wineclub@copiavineyards.com to inquire.
